Deer Season Off to a Rainy Start

Deer Season Off to a Rainy Start - Monday, November 26, 2007 at 3:36PM EST

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- The first day of deer hunting season started a bit on the slow side at 'The Deer Place" Processing Center in Dunmore.

Less than a dozen hunters showed up with their harvest by Noon.

Most say the rain cut back on the number of hunters usually in the woods.

For some, hunting remains a family tradition. Paul Karliak brought his 10-year-old grandson along as part of the state's mentor' program.

The boy wasn't allowed to carry the gun, but could get a chance to make the shot if the target is a buck.

Paul got his deer. But since it was a doe his grandson just had to watch to see how it was done.
