MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Lackawanna County Commissioner Bob Cordaro says plans for a new minor league stadium in Moosic could be jeopardized by the results of Tuesday's General Election.
Those results include Cordaro's apparent defeat in the race for County Commissioner.
Cordaro said that Mandalay Sports, which manages the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees for the county, has plans for a new stadium, a Yankee Village and a Yankee Hotel.
But, he says, those plans hinge on an agreement to sell the minor league team to Mandalay.
Cordaro's opponents in the election, Democrats Mike Washo and Corey O'Brien, have expressed concern that a sale of the team could eventually lead to its move out of Lackawanna County.
If the apparent election results stand, they will become the county's majority commissioners.
O'Brien said that he and Washo have been, and remain, in contact with Mandalay.
He says any comments now could jeopardize future developments. | |
