SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Scranton developer Jerry Donahue Monday confirmed that he is the lead agent for an investment group which is buying the Southern Union Building on Lackawanna Avenue in downtown Scranton.
Donahue says he has already talked with several companies that have expressed interest in renting office space in that building once the sale is complete.
Donahue declined to discuss the purchase price. The building was built at an estimated cost of $16,000,000. He expects to close on the sale in about 6 weeks.
The building was constructed between 2003 and 2005 and was originally intended to be the National Corporate Headquarters for the Southern Union Company. Those plans were changed and the building has been generally unused since construction was completed.
