EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - An injured airman has a new face thanks to some people in the Poconos. Pocono Medical Center and its staff donated about $30,000 worth of services to help the man from New York State.

Tim Juliano showed off his new face with a laugh and a smile. He said, "I was just amazed."

Tim's face was disfigured in Iraq. The Technical Sergeant served there as an Air Force Reservist. While there his group faced a rocket attack. He said he heard, "Just loud noise, smoke, big explosion, it landed about eight feet in front of us."

The attack tore a hole in Tim's leg. The force pushed a bone through the skin of his arm. Shrapnel scattered throughout his body and shattered his face. He said, "They never let me see myself before the surgery."

Doctors took care of his life threatening medical issues but couldn't do much about his looks. Tim said, "I just came to terms I was gonna have to live with that."

But he didn't have to live with it. He learned about the Iraq Star Foundation. It works with doctors to give free plastic surgery to injured veterans. Dr. Charles Herman is the Director of Plastic Surgery at Pocono Medical Center. He said, "I think there's no better cause than this cause."

Doctor Herman and other members of the hospital staff volunteered to help him. Herman said, "All of this really was done for the sake of our country and for the greater good."

Now Tim looks better and feels better. He smiled, "The air tastes - or smells so good now! It feels like straight oxygen going in my nose because I haven't been able to do it in a while."

A nose that can now breathe fresh air is a doctor's gift to thank a Sergeant for his sacrifice. Tim said, "It's - you know it's just amazing that he doesn't even know me and he did all this for nothing."

The Cable TV Reality Series "American Chopper" filmed Tim's plastic surgery journey. The show's stars donated a $40,000 custom motorcycle to help the Iraq Star Foundation. They'll auction it off at a gala next month.
