SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Dozens of boys and girls celebrated their graduation from camp cadet Friday night in Scranton.
State police offer the program to better educate 13 to 15 year olds about law enforcement. Program graduate Sierra Hall said, ÒI went to classes to see the bomb squad and many other things. We did traffic stopsÉÓ
Traffic stops usually have drivers seeing red, but troopers involved in the program see it as a chance to teach the kids about law enforcement. Trooper Connie Devens said, ÒThey have a lot of classes during the week with several different law enforcement, EMS and fire that they go to every day and learn a little bit about what police really do.Ó
The boys and girls we talked to certainly found the experience to be colorful - and some state police are hopeful some of these graduates will go for the gold - a gold badge that it is.
Graduate Alyssa Talerico said, ÒI would like to go into law enforcement when I get older.Ó | |
