Cogan House Township, Lycoming County-
It was just after 11:00 Tuesday night when 36-year-old Isaac Millard, of Meshoppen, crashed his S. U.V. near the Routes 15 and 184 split in Cogan House Township. The S. U.V. tore down a 30-foot embankment before rolling onto its roof.
Both passengers, 58-year-old Leslie Millard of Meshoppen and 42-year-old Ryan Downs of Wilkes-Barre, were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, Isaac Millard ran from the crash site after being freed from the wreckage by first responders. An all-out search ensued.
Karen Fry lives about half a mile away. Police called to let her know about the crash and that a man was on the run. So when she heard a knock on the door a couple hours later, she thought it was the cops. Instead she found Isaac Millard standing on her porch, covered in blood.
She called 911, and brought him inside. Fry explained, "He just kept saying about his father. Is my father alright, is my father alive? He was just devastated. He commented that he lost his mother, in 1984 I think. She was hit by a car and his father was all he had. Oh, it was awful."
Fry and her husband quickly offered help. "I wrapped him up a little bit and just tried to comfort him until they got here. He was pretty much inconsolable about his father, so I just asked him if he wanted to pray, and he said yes, so we prayed," Fry added.
Millard was taken to Williamsport Hospital. A blood test confirmed he had been drinking. He now faces homicide by vehicle, DUI, aggravated assault, and hit-and-run charges.
