WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- In Wilkes-Barre a dryer fire forced a family from their home.

It happened around 10:30 Saturday morning in the 100-block of Lawrence Street. Robert Ryman lives in the house -- he tried but couldn't put out the fire himself.

Ryman, his wife, 2-children and a dog escaped the flames. Fire crews had rescue the family cat.

The house took smoke and water damage. The Rymans are now staying with relatives.
