Dan Stamm of Wilkes-Barre Township proves one man's trash is another man's treasure.
"It just struck me as it's going to be like a journey now. Just a hunt to try to finish out what's going on with these things," said Stamm.
Stamm's journey started in the Lowe's parking lot in Wilkes-Barre Township.
He found a box full of children's books titled Mr. Milk bottle and his trip around the world.
They appear to be published by the Brown-Wright Dairy Company which sat on Scott Street in Wilkes-Barre, but closed in 1927.
Mr. Milk bottle promotes dairy health around the world.
Luzerne County Historical Society Executive Director Anthony Brooks said, "It helps us piece together our historical past and there are so many missing pieces all the time. Particularly when it comes for a short lived little company like a dairy."
"It's good to see it from somebodyÕs perspective, you know, and how it varies now. Obviously we really grew as a culture," said Stamm.
The Brown-Wright Dairy Company building is still standing.
These days, 111 Scott Street is home to Professional Photographic Services.
The building's current owner Ed Mangak was surprised when we showed him the book.
"You look at some of the features of the building and you wonder why this shape is here and why that piece of building is there," said Mangak. | |
