DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Facing a possible million-shortfall, Dunmore Council members talked voluntary layoffs that could stretch from its Department of Public Works to include union positions in the police and fire departments, according to several council members. A two-hour long meeting was capped by talk of the borough failing to meet its bills, chief among them, payroll.

Councilman Jerry Hart said five to ten of the 11 payrolls remaining in the year may not be met if finances are not put in order. Meanwhile, members of the public argued with council about streets in need of paving, another service not part of the year's budget, according to council.

A solution is not clear, as council members said questions hinge on revenue streams.
