DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY-A benefit for a Dunmore firefighter turned frightening tonight.
As the event was set to begin, a car drove into a crowd.
Police say the driver is 84-year old Herbert Kime from Dunmore.
He apparently drove into barriers on Apple and Drinker Streets.
The car jumped a curb, hit a building and ended up running into a telephone pole.
Four people were injured.
Kime told police he lost his brakes.
Police are investigating and have the car impounded.
Tonight's gathering was a benefit fundraiser for veteran firefighter Mike Snyder.
Snyder was injured on the job three years ago.
His medical bills are very expensive.
So his fellow fighters sponsored tonight's 'Help a Brother Out" benefit .
Tonight's event was co-hosted by hero's bar and eatery. | |
