DUNMORE, LUZERNE COUNTY-T hey were talking about golf at Dunmore City County meeting.
Dunmore is in the process of developing a golf course in Dickson City.
Earlier this year Dunmore paid one single dollar for 235 acres of reclaimed mine land in Dickson city. Land that will be turned into a golf course.
The project will cost about eight million dollars.
Tonight the council voted to hire a hershey company to develop a business plan for the course.
But one council member, against the project, proposed to have the residents decide if they want to go forward with the golf course.
The council voted against the motion by a four to three vote.
Dunmore Councilman, Paul Nardozzi said
"In my opinion, we're or I was trying to give the people a voice in what happens here."
Melanie Naro, the Dunmore Council President responded
"We have researched this, we are happy with it, and we are going to proceed with it. Most people on the street when I talk to them, they're happy."
An informational meeting on the golf course project will be held on Thursday at three P. M. in the Dunmore Community Center. | | |
