Dunmore Jr. Football Team Honored by Governor - Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 3:25PM EST

HARRISBURG- A couple of months ago we brought you the story of a Dunmore junior football team that won their championship. Instead of buying trophies, they used their money to buy Christmas presents for needy kids in the area.
Well Wednesday morning those kids hopped on a bus to Harrisburg at the invitation of the Governor. Ed Rendell honored the team during his address to the General Assembly.

"These times demand selflisness and I want to thank these young football players for doing what they can to help our hard hit families. And as you already recognized, with us today are some members of that great junior football team and their terrific coach Pat Reese, thanks coach and thanks players for what you did," said Rendell.

State lawmakers gave the team a nearly minute-long standing ovation.
