DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Not in my backyard! That's the word from many Dunmore residents in response to a proposed methadone clinic.

In a marathon meeting Monday night, many residents voiced their concerns about the clinic wanting to move into the Keystone Industrial Park, near Keystone Gymnastics.

The operators of Habit Opco Clinic stressed it would be safe and in no danger to the community. If the clinic opens, it would be open seven days a week.

The clinic currently operates 20 other sites. They recently open on in Lehigh County and say that Lackawanna County is in need of a facility.

However neighbors donŐt like the idea. Tom Jimmie said, "I collected 500 names on a petition in six days, without going door to door. People came to sign it. The people in Dunmore don't want it. She is painting a pretty picture but it not a pretty picture.Ó

No vote was taken Monday night. The residents will have to re-file their petition since they had the incorrect owner of the building listed on the petition.

No date has been set for the next hearing.
