WYOMING, LUZERNE COUNTY -- While some teenagers are often behind minor vandalism, one local teen decided to combat it by cleaning up a park here.
Jordan Pringle and some of his friends are hard at work cleaning up a park on Butler Street in Wyoming as part of Jordan's Eagle Scout project.
"I usually bring my little brothers here," said Jordan, a 17-year-old from Wyoming. "Everyday I see graffiti on these tables and some rides here."
He had to sand down picnic tables after people damaged them with writing and carving. He says other teens did the damage.
"It's really disappointing because sometimes I know the people who did it, because it's obvious," he said.
People playing basketball at the park were happy to see the vandalism gone and the park given a new look.
"I think that's really good," said Liam Bradley of Larksville. "They definitely care about the earth, the environment, and the community."
Jordan wants more teenagers to reach out and make a difference in their own communities.
"Some people think we don't do a lot, that we just fool around," said Jordan. "And I don't think everybody's like that."
He just hopes other kids prove that stereotype wrong. | |
