Early Skiing Charity Night

Early Skiing Charity Night - Friday, November 21, 2008 at 8:38PM EST

Friday, Nov 21, 2008 @ 08:38pm EST

Kidder Township -

They're grooming the slopes here at Big Boulder Ski Park in Kidder Township . The slopes are open and ready to go.

Michael Cloeren, Big Boulder’s events director says, "It's great to have skiing and snow boarding in November in Northeastern Pennsylvania ."

And Friday night, skiers will help three charities here at Big Boulder: Toys for Tots, local food pantries and homeless shelters. Skiers can bring toys and food for a free ski lift.

Michael continues, “It's the time to give back. With the economy being uncertain we're not really sure how it's going to go in the next few months at Big Boulder and Jack Frost. I think with Thanksgiving coming we have to give back, it's essential."

Big Boulder says Friday night's charity help is a great way to start off the ski season.

Michael concludes, "Big Boulder is traditionally one of the first ski parks to open in the state. This year is the third earliest opening for the park ever. We're the first in the state to open three years in a row, last in the state to close in the last two years. So we're really excited about being intense trend setters in the ski and snowboard industry."

And Friday night the park hopes to raise a lot for those in need.

Tonight's charity event at Big Boulder runs until 10. Again, bring a toy or non-perishable food and get a free ski lift.
