EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY -- A Marine from East Stroudsburg is recovering after an injury on an Afghanistan battlefield.

The parents of Lance Corporal Khanrad Lamont say he was shot in the chest Sunday in Marjeh, Afghanistan. That's where U. S. forces have been involved in heavy fighting with the Taliban for days.

Lamont's mother says she's had a hard time finding more information on her only son's condition. At last check, Lamont's mother says the 19-year-old is in stable condition.

He's being taken to a hospital in Germany.
