Edwardsville Abduction Update & Parent Safety Tips - Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 3:49PM EST
EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Police are making progress in finding the man who tried to kidnap a 10-year old girl. The abduction attempt happened Tuesday morning in Edwardsville.
Deborah Harlan walks her 5 year old granddaughter to school; she talks often to her about strangers. Experts say, the strangers are out there, but sometimes, kids and even parents, don't realize the dangers. Luzerne County Detective Chaz Balogh presents child safety programs in area schools. "I think parents are always telling their kids about strangers, they forget to tell them about familiar faces in their own neighborhoods even thought their parents may not talk with them or are friends with them children see them on regular basis they don't see them as strangers they think its okay to go with them."
Detective Balogh says parents must reinforce stranger danger safety over and over again. We present stranger danger safety program to area schools and civic groups.
