HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY -- Many people living along Harrison Street in Hanover Township didn't know their neighbor's house was on fire Sunday night. Rich Sanders says he came home at 8:00 and smelled smoke, but that's not unusual.

ÒThere are people on this street with wood burners and things of that sort. I honestly didn't know anything was going on until the trucks were here," he said.

Killed in the fire was 82-year-old Louise Bienasz. She lived here for decades. "We're upset, sorry this all happened," said Sanders.

Neighbors say she lived in New York City for years, but moved here to take care of her mother, and do good for others. "She ran a halfway house for years for mentally challenged older women," adds Sanders.

They say she made a difference and they won't forget it. "It is very sad. Everybody knows everybody here, and they're all good neighbors. So it's sad, it's very sad," he said.

ThereÕs no word yet on a cause. A state police fire marshal was called in to investigate.
