SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Thousands of children in the Scranton area will have a merry Christmas because of the Friends of the Poor and police.

They were handing out thousands of donated toys at the holy family church Monday.

The Fraternal Order of Police raised the money throughout the year and bought the toys for the children. Their efforts will help a lot of kids.

"We see a lot of people who are very concerned, desperate, some who were able in the past to buy something but this year they really aren't able to buy anything for their children," said Sister Maryalice Jacuinot, Director of Friends of the Poor.

The toys will go to about 3,000 kids this year.
