SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Eyewitness News knows more about why the F. B.I. paid a visit to the Luzerne County Controller's office last week.
Controller Walter Griffith came to federal court in Scranton Tuesday. He was subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury. The grand jury session was canceled, but Griffith said the F. B.I. is looking into a county contract to lease a building in Hazleton.
Luzerne County Controller Walter Griffith said, "They wanted all the records of a property on Broad Street in Hazleton from 2004 to the present. We gave them all the records when they were in my office. I was told not to appear but the subpoena said I should appear I thought it would be wise I do appear."
The building in question houses District Justice Joe Zola's office and county probation offices. No one has been accuse of any wrong-doing. | |
