FBI searches Luzerne County office

FBI searches Luzerne County office - Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 6:15PM EST

Thursday, Jun 19, 2008 @ 06:15pm EST

The FBI moves in and takes records from the Luzerne County juvenile probation department.

The records could be related to Luzerne County judge Mark Ciaveralla.

We caught up with him after a rare meeting of all county judges Thursday afternoon.

We asked him what he had to say about the FBI search over at Penn Place .

Ciaveralla said no comment, but county court director of administrative services Paul McGarry told Eyewitness News what happened.

McGarry says the FBI took records Thursday afternoon dating back to 2002 for juvenile placement in PA child care and Western PA child care.

Those are two places juveniles could be sent to serve time.

They were formerly owned by Butler Township attorney Robert Powell.

Powell is financially tied to judge Ciaveralla.

Civeralla recently stopped hearing juvenile cases.

Some juvenile's he's sentenced have been released, and assigned to a different judge.

Most notably, Hanover Township teenager Kevin Williamson, released from a juvenile detention camp this week.

Thursday's closed door judges meeting was reportedly about county property reassessments

But Ciaveralla wouldn't comment on that either
