FEMA Extends Trailer Rent For Flood Victims - Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11:47AM EST

TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY- A spokesman for the Wyoming County Emergency Management Agency said that FEMA has agreed to a one month extension of its assistance program for 2006 flood victims who are still living in trailers provided by the government.

About two dozen families in Wyoming and Susquehanna Counties had been facing a December 31st deadline to decide if they would rent or buy the trailers or move out of the units.

Several of those victims said the government was asking for more than $700 a month in rental fees.

While the deadline extension gives flood victims one additional month of free rent, many say a government buy out is the only way they can recover from their flood damage.
