LOCK HAVEN, CLINTON COUNTY - Lock Haven's Painter Stadium will see its final play. Since 1901, high school teams and Lock Haven University have played there. Tonight, the Central Mountain Wildcats will take the field for the last time. "A lot of people from the past will be there that we haven't seen. The blue and white from Central Mountain and the purple and white from Lock Haven," said Wildcats Coach Brian Hanna.

The stadium represents more than just football. It represents family to some. Hanna's little brother Stephen now plays for the team. Stephen said, "We had a lot of Hannas go through here. In fact, three of my older brothers went through there and played football there.” When the reporter asks how he feels about being the last Hanna to take to the field, Hanna replied, “It's something I can brag about."

The landmark will be demolished to make way for new business. Frank Dwyer who played for Lock Haven High School in the 1960’s, and later for Lock Haven University, said, "The grass doesn't grow and the stadium is run down. It'll be nice to have a nice field."

The new football stadium will be built behind the Central Mountain High School. Officials said they are hoping to break ground in May and have it open by the 2008 football season.

But before they look ahead, the community will look back as they say farewell. Wildcats Player Joshua Allen said, "Generations of football players played at painter and tons of people are going to be there. It adds a little pressure but we know we have to go out and get a win."

The Wildcats will play against the Puxatawney Chucks.
