SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- The controversy over the police chief in Scranton continues to grab headlines.

Monday afternoon the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) held a news conference at the Hilton Hotel in Scranton. The group denounced the remarks that Chief David Elliott made to two female officers several weeks ago.

As we told you last week, Elliott called the officers "overtime whores."

The mayor of Scranton gave the chief a one week unpaid suspension, but some say that isn't strong enough. They say that the chief should resign or be fired.

Chief Elliott has apologized for his remarks. After the news conference city officials say they still stand by their original punishment.
