MONROE COUNTY-Zack and Rukie Paputchi own the Old Mill Pizzeria in Hamilton Township.
Rukie is now behind bars the government wants to deport her to Bulgaria.

Zack said the police showed up at his house Monday and took his wife away. She left sobbing while their four year
old slept. "They didn't give me no letters. They just say we have an order to take her in."

Zack can't bring himself to tell his little girl what happened.

The Paputchi's immigration lawyer. Ted Murphy tells us they came to the U.S. from communist-run Bulgaria in the
early nineties and applied for asylum but no one looked at the application for five years. There was also a problem with the law that would have allowed the Paputchi's to stay. The results Rukie now faces deportation

Attorney Murphy has filed a request to stop the deportation.

The community is standing behind the family and supporting them in their fight.

We contacted several government immigration offices about this case. Our calls were not returned.
