LEHMAN TOWNSHIP. PIKE COUNTY- Police chased a man with a gun in Pike County Wednesday morning as a family watched in fear.

Police said 49-year old David Allen Cullen caused a five hour standoff in Lehman Township. We talked exclusively witha family who saw it all happen in their own backyard. It's an interview you will only see here.

Robin Benecke was glad toget out and play with her son Wednesday afternoon because they were forced to spend the entire morning trapped inside while police tried to calm a gunman in their backyard.

"I was terrified for my son. Terrified" declared Robin Benecke.

Robin's father, Joe Benecke, went outside of the home in Pocono Ranch Lands to smoke at about seven Wednesday morning. He heard tires screech and then saw Pennsylvania State Police troopers chasing a man with a gun.

Joe Benecke witnessed what happened next. "There was just screaming back and forth, then telling himto put the gun down. And him screaming ‘I'm not going to put the gun down. You're going to have to kill me.’ " he explained.

"At one point he ran towards the house. At that point we were on the back porch. So we ran in scared" continued Robin Benecke.

Police told the Beneckes to stay inside. They watched dozens of officers surround the man on Grossbeak Court.

As Joe peaked out of his window he saw cops everywhere. Three with guns right over a hill near his backyard. A cop in camouflage with a gun pointed at the man on the street.

"He had a bead on this guy. He could've ended it anytime he wanted" declared Joe Benecke.

But the officer didn't shoot. Five hours after the standoff started the man dropped his weapon, fell to his knees, and surrendered.

"He was on the groundand the SWAT was just all around him. Thank God no one got hurt." added Robin.

It seemed the commotion ended as abruptly as it started. The police cleared out and Robin took Daniel outside to play.

"He actually slept throughthe whole thing" stated Robin.

Police said Cullen lives in Pocono Ranch Lands and that he was upset over a domestic dispute. Cullen was taken to an area hospital for psychological evaluation.

They also don't yet know if they'll charge him with any crimes.
