Fans Pour into Long Pond for Pocono 500

Fans Pour into Long Pond for Pocono 500 - Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 6:40PM EST

LONG POND, MONROE COUNTY- Fans poured into the Pocono Raceway on a beautiful Sunday to catch the first of two NASCAR stops in our area.
The Pocono 500 saw driver Tony Stewart win the race after starting in the back of the field. He was on the pole after Friday’s qualifying was rained out, but he crashed his car in practice Saturday and had to use a backup car.

There were some concerns about the weather but there was only a 10-minute light passing shower that caused a caution for a few laps.

Fan we talked to said the slowdown in the economy wasn’t going to keep them from checking out the race in person.
