EYNON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Police in Lackawanna County need your help to catch a bank robber. The heist happened just before 11:00 Monday morning at the Fidelity Bank on Business Route 6 near Archbald.

State police released surveillance pictures to help catch the robber. They don't think he acted alone. They think he had a getaway car and driver near the scene.

State police want you to take a good look at the man in these surveillance pictures. Troopers say he's the person responsible for robbing the Fidelity Bank on the Scranton / Carbondale Highway just before 11:00 A. M.

Archbald Police Chief Tim Trently says the suspect indicated he was armed but never showed a weapon. ÒHe left a note at the tellers window demanding money, at that point, the teller complied and did what she was trained to do," he said.

Nany Leach works right next to the bank. She was shocked to hear about the robbery. ÒI would never think on a busy street like this anyone would walk in and rob a bank,Ó she said.

Police say after the heist the suspect ran into the woods behind the bank. They think he had another person waiting nearby in a getaway car. ÒHe took off on foot but we have reason to believe that he may have gotten into a vehicle up on the other part of [Route] 247 here," said Trently.

Until this man is caught people who work near the bank in Lackawanna County say they'll keep an extra eye out. ÒThere's times I work here until 8-9 o'clock at night and I'm by myself. I lock the doors and everything but its still scary coming out by yourself and now it just makes it ten times worse," added Leach.

The suspect is described as a white man who's about 5Õ10Ó with a little facial hair. The getaway car is described as a maroon SUV or pick-up truck.

Anyone with information on the bank robbery is urged to call state police in Dunmore or 9-1-1.
