PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- It was a bittersweet day Sunday for parishioners of a Luzerne County church.
Sacred Heart along North Main Street in Plains Township held its final mass Sunday morning. Members will now merge with other churches in the plains catholic community.
78-year church member Shirley Carter said, "It's sad, but we'll have to carry on, we'll be at Saints Peter and Paul, we all be together."
Sacred Heart in Plains Township is closing as part of the restructuring plan of the Diocese of Scranton. | | |
