MAHANOY CITY, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- Two families are out of their homes because of fire. The fire department says calls came into 9-1-1 at 6:45 P.M. for a fire on the 300 block of West Spruce Street. One home was largely gutted while the one next door has smoke and water damage.

The Mahanoy City Fire Department’s Mike Cadau said, “There were six residents in 320, two adults and four children. They all got out safe. Two residents, two adults in 322, they were able to get out safe.”

The fire department says they believe the fire started in the front second-floor bedroom. They have ruled it an accident, however they're holding off on pinpointing an exact cause. We're told there are no injuries.
