Fire Damages West Scranton Home
Fire Damages West Scranton Home - Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 11:11AM EST
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A home is West Scranton was heavily damaged by fire Tuesday morning. Bill Wilson, a worker for Pennsylvania American Water Company, saw smoke coming from the eves of a house at 1423 Bryn Mawr and called 9-1-1.
Firemen said they found heavy smoke when they arrived on the scene. Flames had worked their way from the first to the second floor.
The owners, Ed and Mary O'Malley were not at home when the fire broke out. The woman's son lives nearby. A neighbor said he was overcome by smoke as he tried to get in to rescue pet cats inside.
A city fire inspector will try to determine what caused the fire. A neighbor said it was the second one at the O'Malley home in a year's time. | |
