LENOX, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY - A fast-moving fire destroyed a home that was nearly 200 years old Monday morning in Susquehanna County.
The blaze broke out on Cameron Hill Road in Lenox just before 11:00 AM. No one was home at the time. The homeowner, Dave Sweeny, says he was next door with a friend, when he came back and found his home in flames.
Sweeney says the home was built in 1820. He says it had previously served as a hotel. Sweeny was devastated by the fire because he lost countless antiques that he'd been collecting from all over the world.
It took firefighters from three counties to put out the blaze. They had to truck water into the scene because of the rural location.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it does not appear suspicious. A State Police Fire Marshal will be on scene on Tuesday.
No one was injured. | |
