Fire Destroys Wilkes-Barre Home

Fire Destroys Wilkes-Barre Home - Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 8:57PM EST

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY - Firefighters had a busy Saturday. They were called to the same fire scene twice.
The latest time was 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon. Firefighters say flames re-kindled inside the attic of a home at 42 Hollenback Avenue. They were quickly put out. That fire came just about 12 hours after a bigger blaze at the same home, which destroyed the building.

The cause of the first fire is still under investigation. The second fire was caused by hot spots.

"The clutter that's in the attic, along with insulation, it just makes it extremely hard to get at every little hot spot," Assistant Fire Chief Tom Makar said.

A neighboring home was also damaged by the fire. No one was seriously hurt.
