NICHOLSON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY- Volunteer firefighters from Wyoming and Susquehanna County were called to the scene of a barn fire shortly after 7:00 Thursday morning.

Firemen said the barn, owned by Eugene Spadine, was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Three nearby homes, including the owner's, were evacuated as a precaution.

Firemen were able to stop the flames from spreading.

Spadine said the barn was filled with hay and some equipment.

There were no injuries and a State Police fire marshal was called to the scene to try to determine what started the blaze.
