SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A Scranton family is staying elsewhere tonight after flames tore through their home early Sunday morning.
A charred mattress and broken windows show the damage from the house fire in the 2900-block of Marvine Avenue. Four people were home at the time of the blaze but they all got out safely.
Fire investigators say the blaze started in a second floor bedroom just before 7:00 AM and has been ruled electrical in nature.
"I was on the computer and the fire alarm went off and I went upstairs and I saw the smoke billowing out of my brother's room. He opened the door and there were flames galore," homeowner Barbara Rafalko said.
The inside of the home suffered severe smoke and water damage. The family is currently being helped out by the American Red Cross. | |
