Fire Leaves 15 People Homeless
Fire Leaves 15 People Homeless - Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 9:49PM EST
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Fire crews in Scranton are looking into what caused a fire that left 15 people homeless.
It happened along the 800 block of Luzerne Street in Scranton around 5:00 Saturday evening. Crews say they were called because a mattress was burning outside the building. But that's not what they found as they arrived.
Scranton Fire Captain Roger Rogalewicz said, "Reported heavy fire on the 1st floor, with entrapment on the second floor. They stretched a line and started extinguishing the fire while other companies went in and performed a search on both sides of the duplex."
Everyone got out of the apartment house safely. Two people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. | |
