EAST STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY -- There was a fire scare at Pocono Medical Center Tuesday Evening. Fire crews rushed to the hospital just before five. This after hospital workers spotted smoke on the roof.
A hospital spokesperson said it started during a routine generator inspection. The insulation around part of that generator started to smolder and caused the smoke.
There was no fire. Patients were not evacuated.
The hospital was pleased with the way first responders handled the situation. "In the event of a larger event we feel very confident they will be here and will respond quickly and effectively," said spokesman Anthony Matrisciano.
Pocono Medical Center will replace the insulation in that generator and does not expect it to cause any more problems. | |
