Fire Victims May become Homeless - Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 8:26PM EST

In November, an East Stroudsburg fire killed two people. It also left two families homeless. Our Laurie Monteforte had exclusive interviews with both families, the day before, they have to leave an emergency shelter.
Baby Chantal Clark screams her frustration - while her mom Carol does her best to keep it all inside. She and her three kids are staying in a Salvation Army shelter. Carol Clark of East Stroudsburg "We have to leave tomorrow. We have nowhere to go." Carol and her kids lost their East Stroudsburg home in a deadly fire.
It was mid-November. Our viewers saw her story and donations came in. The Clarks got money - clothes and toys. But they still don't have a home. Carol says people are afraid to rent to her because a child set the fire. But it wasn't her child. It was her roommate’s.
Police say Waine Howell junior was playing with a lighter when he set the fire. The Howell’s are also at the Salvation Army shelter - and will be homeless Friday night. They say landlords always tell them the same thing. Waine Howell of East Stroudsburg "that they're scared to rent to us or they don't want to rent to us 'cause they're scared they're gonna burn the place down again." But Waine Jr. said he learned his lesson. Both families worry - if they can't find shelter - children and youth may take their kids.
