SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- The new medical college in Scranton has reached another milestone. The college is currently in the middle of its first clinical trial.

College officials were updated on the process of the trial Monday morning in Scranton. Researchers have recruited about 40 women to see if aspirin can be used to help to prevent miscarriages.

Data collected locally will be compared to data collected at other research facilities across the country. Dr. Janet Townsend of Community HealthÕs Department of Family Medicine said, ÒIf we find aspirin helps to prevent miscarriages and it results in live birth within this region, hundreds if not thousands, more babies could be born over time. The same thing nationally."

As we first told you last week, the commonwealth medical college is also celebrating because they will share in gaming legislation that was just passed in Harrisburg.
