Flames Destroy Sunbury Salvation Army Thrift Store - Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 12:24PM EST
SUNBURY, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY- A Salvation Army Thrift Store is in ruins Tuesday night after fire ripped through the building in Sunbury.
Crews from several counties battled the fire. Firefighters were called to Market Street in Sunbury just after 7:00 Tuesday night.
When they arrived on the scene, the Salvation Army store was in flames. Crews believe the fire started on the second floor. Everyone got out of the building safely.
A doctor's office and another building also were damaged by smoke and water.
Fire crews arrived on the scene quickly. According to Sunbury Fire Chief Chad Betts the fire crews were just down the street setting up for their carnival when they noticed the smoke.
Two firemen were injured at the scene. We're told they will be okay.
A state police fire marshal will be on the scene Wednesday to investigate the cause of the fire. | |
