WEST MAHANOY TWP., SCHUYLKILL COUNTY -- Sherry White lost nearly everything in a West Mahanoy Township fire early Tuesday morning.

She was moving to another house but most of her belongings were in the burned building.

White has two children and told Eyewitness News, "I'm thankful, you know, that we were not in the house. My kids are my life."

Now police tape surrounds White's old home. A State Police fire marshal says the fire started accidentally in the double block building.

Neighbor Debbie Sands said the fire destroyed two homes on what she calls a tight-knit block. "Oh it's heartbreaking. I mean, the one neighbor, he's lived there his whole life," said Sands.
