DELAWARE WATER GAP, MONROE COUNTY- The color of money in the Poconos may be red or orange rather than green.
Tourist Don Colapietro said, "The foliage colors were as beautiful as you could get, as varied and as dense. This has got to be peak season."
Tourists have packed Trolleys for the Delaware Water Gap Trolley Tour all week. Tour Guide Edward Kelly said, "Still busy because of this warm weather. The leaves are out and everybody wants to see the leaves and the foliage in the area."
Kelly said lots of his customers travel to the Delware Water Gap from New York and Philadelphia rather than spend gas to drive further into New England. He said, "I think that's the biggest part and it's been that way all summer."
The combination of gas prices, weather and scenery also drew tourists to the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort along the Delaware River. Pat Saybolt of Philadelphia said, "It's just gorgeous. It's like summer but it's got the colors of fall."
Managers at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resrot said they've had their best October ever, thanks in part to summer like temperatures and breathtaking scenery.
Jeremy Wo works for the resort. He said, "For those people who are kind of only a little bit effected by the economy, driving up to the Pocono Mountain Region is just perfect."
Saybolt added, "Philly isn't that far away. So it's a great spot to have natural beauty and not go too far."
Beautiful weather, at a beautiful spot close to home, that's something too beautiful to put a price on.
"I'm tremendously happy and thankful to Mother Nature," said Wo.
