DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY- The former Athletic Director for a Luzerne County high school admits stealing from the district.

53-year-old John Wolensky of Trucksville pled guilty Wednesday morning to theft charges. Wolensky was the Athletic Director for Dallas schools and the guidance counselor for Dallas High School.

Investigators say he stole nearly $25,000 from high school student funds, football helmet sales and athletes' meal money. They say he also charged students money for a practice SAT test that's actually free.

A Dallas school board member expressed disgust about the crime. "The rule of a guidance counselor is a little more special because, mentoring, guiding children into adulthood in their careers and to see someone in that capacity take advantage of the students and community is very sad," said Dennis Gochoel.

Wolensky's sentencing is scheduled March 26th. He could face up to 7-years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
