DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY- A former guidance counselor in the Dallas School District has been fired. Monday night, the school board voted unanimously to dismiss John Wolensky. He will also lose all his benefits and must pay restitution.

Last week, Wolensky pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $25,000 from the district. Investigators say he took the money from the student activities fund, football helmet sales and athlete's meal money.

It's a crime that's affected everyone in the district. School Board President Karen Kyle said, "I think it had an impact on past and present students. One, they were without a guidance counselor, two; they wonder how it happens. But, I think kids move on."
