Former Lackawanna County Factory Torched - Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 08:30AM EST

TAYLOR, LACKWANNA COUNTY - A former factory in Lackawanna County was torched overnight.

Taylor firefighters put out a blaze at the former Vermont Clothing Factory building on the corner of High Street and Cooper St reet. Flames broke out around 1:00 A. M.

A fire marshal has confirmed the fire is arson. Firefighters tell us the building recently changed ownership.

Taylor Fire Chief John Tigue describes what they found in the factory. "There's old film, movie film reels, there's old sewing equipment, there's old clothes in there from it being like an old clothing store, it was being sold, they manufactured clothing here at the time when it was in its hay day," he said.

Firefighters added that it was hard to vent the fire because the building was boarded up.
