SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Former personal care home administrator Vincent McGrath will serve an 18-month intermediate sentence for tampering with records at the Birch Hills Personal Care Home.
The first three months will be served as home confinement. He will then be on probation. McGrath was allowed to change his plea from "guilty" to "no contest."
McGrath was charged with altering the records of Peggy Rogers, a patient who died in 2006. Investigators said the records were changed to indicate the woman was bathed on a regular basis. Hospital workers noted the woman was dirty and unwashed when she was brought to their facility.
The owner of the home, Dr. Gregory Salko, was charged with neglecting the patient. Those charges have yet to be resolved.
