WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- The Wilkes-Barre police department says goodbye to one of their own.

Former policeman John Tlucek was laid to rest Monday.

Tlucek died last Wednesday after becoming ill earlier in the week.

Tlucek was known to most people as "Big John."

He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and he served on the Wilkes-Barre Police Force for 22 years.

He retired in 1994 but stayed active in the community as a leader of the American Legion and the Police Retirees Association.

Tlucek was 70-years-old.
