A Scranton police detective is fired and DUI charges could be re-filed against him.
Detective Patrick Tobin was a veteran of Scranton 's police force.
Last Christmas, police say he passed out drunk in an unmarked police cruiser.
Last Thursday, Tobin's dui charges were dropped because the arresting officer didn't show up to the hearing.
Scranton mayor Chris Doherty said, "It's not going away at all. Everybody is treated equally and we'll say ok, it's an honest mistake. They weren't there, we'll re-file the charges."
Mayor Doherty says Tobin was fired about a month ago.
The alleged DUI was Tobin's second offense while he was a member of the force.
His first offense was not alcohol related.
At last check Monday, charges had not been re-filed in Lackawanna County court.
Mayor Doherty says he met with Scranton 's police chief and Lackawanna County 's district attorney Thursday.
Mayor Doherty says he was told the charges would be re-filed. | |
