WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Eyewitness news has just learned a local official tied to corruption in Luzerne County is now in jail.

Doctor Ross Scarantino went into the "Fort Dix Federal Correctional Facility" in New Jersey last week.

Scarantino is the former Pittston Area Superintendent.

He admitted to taking a bribe to steer contracts in the district.

Scarantino is expected to be released next October.
