SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Four area residents were recognized Thursday for their dedication and service to veterans.
Ceremonies were held at the Gino Merli Veteran's Center where the names of the four honorees will be added to a special honor roll that's kept on display.
Martin Damiano, Lackawanna County Judge Thomas Munley, Joseph Oravec who was named posthumously, and Neno Sartini will be added to the list.
Judge Munley said its one of the greatest honors he has ever received. "I’ve spent 11 years working with vets. What's amazing is that I'm a judge now. I'm very honored. But being a vet and getting this honor today. It's going to be hard to top this."
Each year the center pays tribute to individuals who have made special efforts to help veterans in Northeastern Pennsylvania. | |
